We are currently looking for a Lead Software Engineer who will support our client in the development of a booking platform belonging to the world's largest travel club present in over 20 countries on three continents. The company focuses on strategic development, modern processes, Agile methodology, and test-driven development.
You will play a technical lead role in one of our member experience product teams. You will be driving and enabling key decisions when crafting, building, deploying, and maintaining your product team’s work with the aim to improve areas of our web application (desktop and mobile). The team you lead could be extending our REST API and GraphQL layer, adding new functionalities to application services, adding caching to improve scalability, and a lot more. On average our lead engineers work in a 50/50 split between hand-on and leadership activities.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with domain experts and users of our services to understand their needs
- Steer the design, implementation, and delivery of quality services and products
- Work with peers to problem solve and resolve common issues
- Share your knowledge and learn from others by being a member of a Community of Practice
- Help others grow by mentoring and providing actionable feedback
- Drive activities such as planning, retrospectives, workshops
- Keep the team spirits up!
Requirements:
- Expertise in web application development using Java, Spring Boot and Hibernate
- Fluency in Groovy and Grails or willingness to learn
- Experience in working with relational databases such as MySQL. Some knowledge of NoSQL storage solutions like Redis and MongoDB would be beneficial as well.
- Frontend skills - React.js and other JavaScript libraries and frameworks, CSS, HTML
- Experience with object-oriented programming, design patterns, and distributed systems design
- Proven experience in leading a cross-functional team, i.e. Agile processes, delivery processes, metrics, cross-team alignment, etc.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to adjust your style based on the audience
- A desire to learn and grow
