Canary Systems is a technology firm headquartered in the beautiful Lake Sunapee region of New Hampshire. We specialize in civil engineering related monitoring and instrumentation applications and operate in several markets including construction, mining, geotechnical, industrial, and public infrastructure. Risk management is a growing market and our unique product and services, our software in particular, has positioned us as a worldwide leader in these fields.

We are looking to immediately fill a full-time position for a DevOps/Network Engineer in our New London, NH office.

Summary
Two roles are described. First, responsibility for our software testing process including management of the source code repositories and build environments. This includes working with our Test Engineers and Product Owner to develop testing plans and checklists for primary, service pack and hotfix releases.

Second, as Network Engineer, which involves maintaining our in-house servers, cloud-hosted servers and development environments. Related responsibilities include helping the Support group with troubleshooting and resolving issues with client deployments.

Duties & Responsibilities

•         Manage the software development build and test environments

•         Work with the development team to implement new tools and technologies

•         Manage the in-house and out-of-house server environments for development, testing and production

•         Assist the Support team with client deployments and support issues

•         Assist the group/project managers with custom scripting and configuration
 

Expertise Required

•       Experience with software development environments and technologies

•       Experience with project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence

•       Experience with code repository tools such as GIT/Bitbucket

•       Experience with automated software testing tools such as Jenkins/Hudson

•       Microsoft Workstation (Win7, 8, 10, 11) and Server OS’s (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022)

•       Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and .NET

•       API technologies and implementation including RESTful API

•       Programming and scripting including SQL, Python, Javascript, VBScript, PowerShell

•       SQL database systems including Firebird, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle SQL, MySQL

•       Solid communication, project management, and presentation abilities

•       Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Network Engineering or equivalent experience


Expertise Desired

•       Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including coordinate systems and data

•       Geotechnical data reduction and presentation methods

•       Able to work both independently and as team player

•       Highly organized, detail oriented and self-motivated

•       Excellent communicator (both verbal and written)

•       Knowledge of the Russian language

This position reports directly to the Software Development Manager. While working out of our NH office is preferred, this position is offered as 100% remote for a qualified candidate.
